A young Mexican boy, his girl, and his mule go on a picnic, and are having a good time when they come upon a temperamental volcano and, then, almost anything can happen and almost does.

The story depicts a journey in which the boy thief named Dororo and a cursed man called Hyakkimaru destroy monsters. Hyakkimaru can be a complete "human" only after he destroys 48 devils.
